PNB pursues to adopt the latest information technology application solution across all business activities and customer related services. PNB’s involvement in the IT business segment ranges from the management of its vast Unit Trust Business namely it’s Unit Trust System (UTS) to participating in IT-related ventures. PNB’s UTS was developed in-house as early as 1985 ta a system today that serves eight million account holders and spreads over eight major unit trust schemes. PNB’s IT efforts sees the establishment of a comprehensive disaster recovery facility complete with a redundant network centre in 1993. PNB has also initiated integration of its unit trust with investment operations and financial systems.

CIMB Bank fist to offer enhanced Online Security live with CIMB Clicks Transaction Protection.

Kuala Lumpur: CIMB Bank today launched CIMB Clicks Transaction Protection, an online security solution that provides CIMB Clicks users with the added protection from possible fraudulent transactions. CIMB Bank is the first bank in Malaysia to implement this authentication security solution, provided by Actimize – the world’s largest and broadest financial crime, risk and compliance solutions providers. Commenting on the new security solution, Peter England, Head of Retail Financial Services said, “CIMB Bank is constantly looking for ways to improve customer confidence to bank with us online”. Iswaraan Suppiah, Head of Group Information and Operations said, “CIMB relies on technology as a business enabler and differentiator. Today, over 6million customers enthusiastically adopt our technology innovation with implicit trust because of our commitment to continuously improve the security and robustness of our technology assets, providing greater convenience while protecting our customer’s interests. CIMB is the first bank in Malaysia to introduce state of the art technology that can monitor, detect and prevent cyber-fraud in real time at CIMB Clicks”.
CIMB Clicks Transaction Protection is an authentication mechanism put in place to validate transactions performed via CIMC Clicks. It calculates customer’s risk score based on their historical transactions and immediately alerts the Bank if any statistically unusual transaction being approved and processed. However, while CIMB Bank continues to leverage new technology in its effort to minimize fraud, it is crucial that customers take the necessary precautions and are savvy when conducting transactions online. Customers are reminded that they should never respond to emails requesting for any online updates to their bank accounts. Neither should they respond to any SMS that promise cash prizes as they could well be a scam. The launch was officiated by Peter England, Head Retail Financial Services and Iswaraan Suppiah, Head Group Information & Operations Division in Kuala Lumpur. This new security solution underscores CIMB Bank’s dedication in providing the best service possible to its customers.

Sime Darby Awarded ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security Management System.
Sime Darby has recently received the prestigious ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management System(ISMS), awarded to organization that have demonstrated that their information security management systems conform to internationally recognized standards, framework and best practices. To date, only 6500 organizations globally have been awarded the ISO 27001 certification, of which 40 companies are from Malaysia. This maiden certification primarily focuses on IT management and its common infrastructure shared services involving corporate security policies, security organization, asset management, human resources security, physical and environment security, communication & operational controls, access controls, system acquisition/development/maintenance, security incident management, business continuity/disaster recovery and compliance management. This certification would facilitate the Group to continuously ensure that critical information assets are systematically managed and controlled, hence enhancing the Group’s corporate governance and information security assurance to all stakeholders including employees, management, business partners and customers.
This certification project was initiated by Group IT in May 2009, involving key personnel from various departments. It went through numerous control implementation and reviews before being finally audited and certificate body headquartered in Germany. Mr. Tan Kah Chai, Group Chief Information Officer, said an organization as large and as diversified as Sime Darby requires mature information security processes and standards to ensure that it protects itself against external threats and prevent leakage of information assets. The Group’s goal is to achieve an environment where integrity, confidentially and availability of data and systems are always assured. Attaining ISO 27001 certification takes us step nearer towards achieving the goal. By obtaining this Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification, Sime Darby has also answered the Government’s recent call for all organizations in Malaysia, particularly the critical national agencies, to be better prepared in facing the cyber threat. Sime Darby is proud to be in the league of the only 40 companies in Malaysia that are ISO 27001 certificate.
